1. Collect important data about your monitor
To find the perfect mount for your screen, you need some basic information about your monitor or TV.
Size and weight of the screen:
The screen size in inches and the weight are crucial for choosing the right mount. If you are unsure about the size, measure the diagonal of the screen (just the display, without the casing) and divide the result by 2.54 to get the value in inches. Information about the weight can be found in the monitor's data sheet or on the manufacturer's website. Alternatively, you can also weigh the monitor.
VESA standard of the monitor:
The VESA standard is an international standard for attaching monitors and televisions to mounts. There are various VESA standards such as MIS-D, MIS-E and MIS-F, which differ in terms of the size and weight of the monitor or TV. It is important to know this standard in order to choose the right mount. To determine your VESA standard, look at the back of your screen. You should find four threaded holes there. Measure the distances between these holes both horizontally and vertically to determine your VESA size. If your screen does not have VESA mounting points, special VESA adapters can be used. You can find out more about the different VESA standards in our article here.
Online tool for determining the screen data:
Some online stores offer tools that allow you to find the specifications of your screen by entering its model number. These tools provide information such as dimensions, weight and VESA standard and can also suggest suitable mounts.
2 What you want from a mount
There are many different types of monitor mounts on the market. Consider in advance which features and functions are important to you.
Mounting location of the mount:
The planned location for the mount should be carefully considered. For wall mounts, for example, you should consider the stability of the wall and the position of the electrical cables.
Type of mounting:
There are various ways to mount a bracket. For example, it can be attached to the table with a clamp, through a hole or with a stand. For the wall, there are brackets that are screwed directly, as well as versions without drilling.
Mobility of the bracket:
Depending on the location and purpose, the mobility requirements can vary. There are rotatable, height-adjustable, tiltable and swivel mounts. Some models are even motorized. If your monitor supports the pivot function, it can be switched between portrait and landscape format.
Color choice:
If parts of the mount will be visible, you should choose a color that matches your décor.
3. Find the ideal mount
You can use the data you have collected to search for the perfect mount for your screen. Make sure that the mount supports the weight of the monitor and has the same VESA standard. If the VESA standard does not match, an adapter may be necessary.
You can find a large selection of mounts from renowned manufacturers online. Take your time to find the best product for your needs.
